Many times when the buyer of a manufactured home is getting an FHA, VA loan, the FHA or VA loan underwriter requires that the mobile home has been placed on a permanent foundation according to the HUD permanent foundations guide. This Trailer Home Inspection of the foundation is becoming more common, even with conventional (private) loans.
You (the home owner or buyer) are then required to hire a professional licensed engineer to perform a “Trailer Home Inspection” and certify that the trailer home is in accordance with the HUD Permanent Foundations Guide dated 1996. What is the engineer’s certificate?
After the Trailer Home Inspection, the foundation will need to meet a certain criteria of structural stability and an Engineering Certification is required.
